I want to talk about the shame of some Muslim majority States and their relationship to Palestinians.

An accusation made against people that criticise Israel is that they must be antisemitic because they single out Israel above other States that violate international law.

One reason I feel strongly about criticising Israeli government policy is that the occupation and subjugation of Palestinians along with its settler colonialism is the longest single consistent violation of international law in our time.

Another reason is the singular exceptionalism and impunity gifted to Israel by the international community but granted to no other country on Earth now or in history.

I have spent most of my adult life holding governments to account for their international law violations.

This includes my own country the UK, the country of my heritage Pakistan and a significant number of Muslim or Muslim majority countries.

I am unable to travel to a significant number of Muslim countries because of my work and some have sent their intelligence and other officials to make threats to me to try to silence me - (unsuccessfully).

My conclusion about a significant number of Muslim Majority countries is that the regimes that lead and control them have a shameful understanding of the rights of people whether the standard is international law or even Islamic law.

The behaviour of the UAE, Jordan and Egypt (and others) is utterly shameful. At a time when people across the world protest at the violent actions of Israel against Palestinians - neighbouring Muslim countries UAE, Jordan and Egypt have profiteered from the war by increasing their exports to Israel.

Despite whatever hollow rhetoric they spew this is clear support by these Muslim State regimes for Israel’s military action.

Whilst millions across the globe from the old to children engage in boycotts to send a strong but peaceful message to Israel for its military actions that very sacrifice and effort is being neutralised by leaders of Muslim states.

But I am not surprised - the problem is not Israel alone and Israel alone is not the only state violating Palestinian rights so are the leaders in these Muslim states along with Western states that continue to support and enable alleged Israeli war crimes by supporting Israel’s economy, supplying weapons and providing political cover.

I am not prepared to focus my anger on Israel alone.

It is time to call out Israel’s enablers and especially those that claim to be Muslims.

To the Muslim majority states - LEAD BY EXAMPLE - your human rights records bring not only shame on you but Islam itself.

You have betrayed what it means to be a Muslim by your greed and violation of Islamic laws and international law.

You spend billions constructing monuments and playgrounds to satisfy your ego but you have forgotten what it means to protect your brothers and sisters - whether they are Muslim or not.

Egypt - we see you. We see that your officials are taking bribes to profiteer from the suffering of Gazans. You steal money from the destitute in return for their lives by allowing safe passage.

If you forced a bribe may the cries of the dead haunt you in every minute of every day and the pounds you take be a curse on you that would even cause the Pharaohs to shake in their tombs.

UAE & Jordan - we see you - we know you are not a friend of the Palestinians even if you help a token few. There are 2 million in need of your help.

Along with many others, Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, Mohamed bin Zayed and Abdel Fatteh El-Sisi your behaviour tells me you don’t deserve leadership and your people deserve better than you.

Leadership is not a right. It is a privilege.

A leader serves and protects their people.

Palestinians are your people.
