Title: PFLP
Ideology: Marxism
Military wing: Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine went through various ideological and organizational stages before settling into its current form. Its roots trace back to the Arab nationalist movement formed after the 1948 defeat, evolving into diverse Palestinian organizations after the 1967 setback. The Front faced internal divisions, leading to deadly clashes and accusations of not adhering to Marxist-Leninist principles it initially embraced. Despite being part of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Front's secret organizational structure persisted.

The leadership remained under its founder, Dr. George Habash, until he resigned at the sixth general conference in 2000, allowing his deputy, Abu Ali Mustafa, to assume the position. Abu Ali Mustafa moved to Palestine in 1999, benefiting from the Oslo Accord despite the Front's opposition. He was assassinated in 2001, succeeded by Ahmad Sa'adat, who, in turn, was arrested by the Palestinian Authority on charges related to the killing of Israeli Minister Rehavam Ze'evi. Sa'adat remains in detention under international pressure.

The Front's strategic goal is the liberation of Palestine, establishing a democratic state with Jerusalem as its capital, ensuring equal rights regardless of religion, gender, creed, or color, opposing Zionism and imperialism, and aspiring to a unified democratic horizon with other Arab nations. Its interim goal includes the right of return, self-determination, and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Front claims that it strategically focuses its military operations within the occupied territories since 1967, emphasizing "the interior is the foundation, and the exterior is the complement." Despite being a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, internal divisions and the high cost paid by its leadership have made it closer to independent factions than Fatah. Its military wing, known as the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, currently engaged in fighting against Zionist forces in Gaza.
