⚡️According to journalists from The Wall Street Journal, China is lagging behind the US in influence in the Middle East. The authors say that China has no leverage that could affect the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

However, it's unclear what specific influence is being referred to. The Chinese are investing in construction and other economic sectors in some countries and trading their weapons, trying to carve out a niche in the region.

For example, in Baghdad you can see entire neighborhoods built by Chinese companies. And the Iraqi armed forces or the Saudis, albeit not without problems, continue to officially operate the CH-4 reconnaissance-strike drones.

Trade is also in full swing, and for this reason, China is interested in stability in the Middle East. But it's important to remember that the real influence in the region is not wielded by the US, but by the British.

Just look at Jordan, where the king studied at the British Sandhurst. Or take Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman - they also have extensive ties between their elites and Britain. Qatar can even be considered a gas station of the Foggy Albion.

So when the WSJ talks about the confrontation between China and the US, they are right only to a small extent. Much more important is the one who remains in the shadows, but controls a significant part of the events in the Middle East.
