According to a military official in the Egyptian decision-making circle, "Cairo tried to scare Tel Aviv by saying that a military escalation on the Egyptian side would amount to 'an earthquake inside Israel, given that it will not be limited to the Egyptian front, and will serve as an opportunity to attack Tel Aviv from other fronts as well.'"

An Egyptian military source told Al-Akhbar that the security arrangements currently being discussed with the Israeli side "focus on finding a mechanism to prevent exchanges of fire between the Israeli forces and their Egyptian counterparts on the border, in the shadow of the ongoing arming of the Egyptian forces stationed in the Strip." He added that "Cairo rejected a proposal that the Egyptian and Israeli soldiers inside the crossing would be unarmed, an absurd thing that Israel also rejected."

According to him, "there are military instructions issued by the military command in Egypt, for soldiers to attack when there is danger, with an emphasis on not firing the first shot." According to the source, the results of the ongoing "investigations" between Cairo and Tel Aviv regarding the confrontation that took place in the vicinity of the Rafah crossing, the other day, and which led to the murder of one of the Egyptian security personnel present at the crossing from the Egyptian side, "will not be made public, and will be confidential. They will be used to prevent similar security frictions that will increase the complications of the situation at the border."

Three Egyptian soldiers told "Al-Akhbar" that "Cairo is careful not to be dragged into escalation for a number of reasons, the most important of which is maintaining the stability of the Egyptian state." They added that "Egypt sent many messages to the Israeli side in which it was stated that its push for involvement in the war is unacceptable and the damage caused to Tel Aviv will be much greater."

The sources also reported that "the Egyptian messages sent through American intermediaries included the claim that the European-American support for Israel will not guarantee a war on all fronts at once, in the shadow of the clear Egyptian combat readiness and popular mobilization forces for this battle, noting that in the coming days, the regime will allow protests against Israel in the street ".
