π£ Victory for Palestine Solidarity at Wesleyan University! π£
After three weeks of unwavering dedication, the Wesleyan Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) have achieved a monumental agreement with the University, marking a significant step towards divestment from companies complicit in the oppression of Palestinians.
ποΈ Encampment Success:
Over 1,000 participants and 100 tents were part of the Wesleyan Palestine Solidarity Encampment, which was a powerful demonstration against Israelβs genocidal actions in Gaza. The encampment fostered a vibrant community of students united in their commitment to justice for Palestine.
π£οΈ Powerful Statements:
β’ "We've seen that thereβs been seven, almost eight months of horrifying slaughter in Palestineβ¦" - SJP Organizer Rowan Roudebush
β’ "We could reject this idea that we have to be normal while weβre seeing these images of Palestinians being slaughtered." - Rowan Roudebush
π’ Demands Met:
1 Divestment Commitment: Wesleyan has agreed to disclose investments and work towards divestment from companies that support Israelβs military and apartheid regime.
2 Amnesty for Protestors: No disciplinary action will be taken against students who participated in the encampment.
3 Academic Boycott Discussions: An ad-hoc committee will explore boycotting Israeli academic institutions and related programs.
π Global Solidarity:
This victory is part of a larger movement against Israelβs apartheid and occupation. As SJP organizer Liam Dorrien highlighted, βIt makes you feel like a part of a much larger movement.β
π Continued Efforts:
The fight isnβt over. SJP will push for complete divestment by September, urging the University to uphold its values against the backdrop of ongoing atrocities in Palestine.

The battle will turn into a war of attrition for years, led by Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in the north, and will lead to the collapse of Israel

Despite being small, this city is very important to Israelβs economy. It has a significant industrial area, devoted to construction products (concrete, glazing, etc), chemicals and pharmaceuticals, metals, communications, information technology, and electronics. But also diamond cutting and the production of textiles, ceramics, and plastics. It is also important for the agriculture and foodtech of the region, along with tourism.
The economic and financial impact of shutting down this versatile city, and its surrounding area, cannot be underestimated, as it impacts multiple sectors at once, especially when coupled with reduced imports due to the Red Sea blockade.
Therefore, the strategic way the resistance plans for where to hit affects the occupationβs whole economy in ways that will take time and money to build back up.

What really happened at 11:30 on May 27, 2024, in Rafah between Egyptian soldiers and Israelis?
1. On June 3, 2023, a 22-year-old Egyptian soldier (policeman) Mohamed Salah infiltrated the Negev and clashed with IDF soldiers, resulting in the death of three of them and his own death.
2. Egyptian soldiers are the sons of the common Egyptian people. They don't have access to the amenities enjoyed by their generals and higher ranks. They suffer like the rest of their people.
3. They feel the pain of their people and the pain of their Palestinian brothers. They get humiliated daily, with some assigned to stand at a lemonade stand selling juice, while others are borrowed for work in their captains' home renovations or to drive their daughters.
4. Video #1 β In a video circulated during the first weeks of the war on Gaza, an Egyptian soldier said: "You taught us to fight, you taught us about weapons. In training, you made us run in the deserts. In extreme heat, keep your weapons and open the borders for us. We know how to handle ourselves. Me and many others my age will burn everything, Wallah."
5. This is the second incident of its kind. The first one occurred on January 15, 2024.
Video #2 β A group calling itself "Al-Faruq Brigades - Sinai" released its first statement claiming the "incident."
Issues with the mysterious group:
- They mentioned the war on Gaza being over 80 days, while it was already over 100 days, indicating the video was recorded at least 20 days prior to the incident.
- They chose a photo of Mohamed Salah, a fellow fallen soldier.
- Sinai borders are heavily guarded.
- This is not an Israeli false flag to have an excuse for military presence on the Philadelphi corridor, considering it happened 42 KM away from Gaza borders.
- The group is Egyptian intelligence fiction to justify what happened. Based on the prerecorded footage, it implies the Egyptian regime's intelligence thought that something like this would happen, and they were prepared to pin it on a fictional group of their creation.
Today's incident happened in Rafah. Pinning it on a group would undermine the Egyptian regime, and no one would believe it since most of the Egyptian army personnel are concentrated on the Rafah crossing and surrounding borders.
So they had to downplay it.
So what really happened?
In both cases, it was an individual decision taken by the sons of the common Egyptian man who feel for their brothers and couldnβt bear to see them massacred in front of their eyes without taking action.
There were casualties among the Israelis and the sons of the common Egyptian man (soldiers), and you will never hear the accurate number of casualties from either regime.
