Japanese freedom fighter Fusaka Shigenobu (Maryam) worked with the martyr Ghassan Kanafani in the Information Department of the Popular Front and contributed to establishing the Japanese Red Army.

The army had a base in Lebanon that included 40 fighters, and one of the most famous operations was carried out by 3 Japanese guerrillas at Lod Airport in 1972. They were: (the martyrs “Bassem” Tsuyoshi Okudaira and “Salah” Yasuke Yasuda, and the freed prisoner “Ahmed” Kozo Okamoto - he was liberated in A prisoner exchange in 1985.

She was arrested in Japan in 2000 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. She was freed on May 28, 2022.
