If you are organizing or attending protests, in the West or elsewhere, use Telegram – NO Meta products (whatsapp, Facebook, or Instagram). Other options include Signal (has disappearing messages) and Threema (which cannot be tracked and the information is encrypted and deleted from their servers).

If you want to broadcast your pictures and videos, only use Meta SM after you’ve come back home. Or, pass your videos to the press and let them broadcast them. Don’t forget to delete the metadata before you circulate the videos/pics.

Be smart! Those protests are nothing wrong, but – given the plutocratic governments we are dealing with – it’s always best to make it harder on them.
