Reuters | North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told the country's military commanders the most powerful means must be mobilized to destroy the United States and South Korea if they choose military confrontation, state media reported on Monday.

Kim said the danger of an armed confrontation on the Korean peninsula is fast becoming a reality because of hostile manoeuvres by the enemies including the United States, requiring the country to "sharpen the treasured sword" to protect itself.

Israel's far-right national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir has instructed prison services not to provide meat to Palestinian prisoners detained over alleged involvement in the 7 October attacks, according to a report in Ynet.

A statement from the far-right minister's office claimed that the conduct of outgoing Israeli prison service commissioner Katy Perry "crossed every possible line".

"[She] is acting as if the state of Israel is not at war, as if she was from the United Nations, without morals or ethics.
