This was the slogan of Engineer Ayyash’s funeral in 1996

The name of engineer Yahya Ayyash was not mentioned, otherwise the holy revenge operations in response to his assassination would be mentioned with him

Today's story is about the details of the holy revenge operations supervised by the captured leader Hassan Salama

How it was planned and how many settlers were killed in it

Only a few hours had passed since the body of the martyr Yahya Ayyash was placed in his grave, until planning began to avenge his blood, in the session that was held between Hassan Salama and Muhammad Al-Deif. Salama describes that session by saying:

“We began talking together about the speed of carrying out the work that the engineer had begun, and we agreed that planning for this work would remain confined to a narrow group that did not exceed Abu Khaled, myself, and one of the brothers, in addition to the martyr Adnan Al-Ghoul.

He added: “On that day, I asked Abu Khaled Al-Deif to be one of the perpetrators of the operations, but he refused

We began work immediately and quickly and used the same method that the martyr Yahya Ayyash planned to return to the West Bank. Thus, he was the one who planned his revenge operations without his knowledge.”

Salama added: “With God’s grace, we were able to emerge from the ordeal and overcome our wounds and began developing implementation plans that we worked on day and night without stopping.”

With simple capabilities, I was assigned the responsibility of going out to the West Bank and carrying out this work, with the understanding that this would be the beginning of forming the nucleus of resistance work in the West Bank.

Salama left for the occupied West Bank, and before his departure, his last meeting was with Muhammad al-Deif, Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades. “Abu Khaled followed me and gave me many instructions and a little money, an amount not exceeding $700, and I left for the West Bank based on a complete plan.”

🔽According to what was confirmed by Israeli sources; In total, 76 Israelis were killed by the “engineer” and his students, and more than 400 others were injured, explaining that the danger of Ayyash was not only in the number of those killed, but in the number of students he trained and left behind.

As a result of the losses of Holy Revenge, Israel requested the authority’s assistance in arresting Muhammad Al-Deif, who became Israel’s most wanted man

Because of the heavy losses that Israel suffered after the assassination of engineer Yahya Ayyash "Israeli" Prime Minister Shimon Peres told Yasser Arafat that the PA had to arrest Mohammed Deif.   In exchange for giving 3 neighborhoods of Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority

At the time Arafat rejected his request and knew nothing of Deif, having to ask around for information on the mysterious character


In 2000 a deal would be struck between the PA and "Israel" leading to the arrest of Deif and the handing over of jurisdiction over 3 villages to the PA by "Israel".

Deif would however successfully escape from prison after just a few months.
