"If the hour comes…..you will find me, my children, and my brothers on the front lines with you."

King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was the third son of King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia.
He was born in Riyadh on 14 April 1906 and became king in November 1964. He oversaw a policy of industrialisation, modernisation and reform of Saudi Arabia.
King Faisal was known for his passionate advocacy for Islamic solidarity, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause. He worked towards mobilising Muslim nations in support of Palestine, emphasising the issue not just from an Arab perspective but as an Islamic one, especially after the arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969. This effort led to the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, underscoring the Palestinian issue as a top priority for the organisation. His views on using oil as a weapon in support of the Palestinian cause, stating that "Palestine is more valuable to us than oil," highlight his commitment to the cause. This stance was made apparent during the oil embargo of 1973 - 1974.

In a speech to the United Nations in 1947, he stated about Zionism:

"It is a group which does not represent world Jewry.
It is a group which is more political than religious, a group whose ways and methods are not different from those of the Nazis."

In 1975, while holding a majlis event in which the ruler opened up their residence to citizens to petition him, he was shot at point-blank and killed by his nephew Faisal bin Musaid. The motives for the assassination remain unclear to this day.
In this undated speech, King Faisal addresses a crowd and states his readiness to fight for the liberation of Palestine if the people are ready to stand up with him. Behind him, you can see the current ruler of Saudi Arabia, his half-brother, King Salman, the 25th son of King Abdulaziz.

In 1982, Israel invaded south Lebanon during their conflict with the PLO. They advanced to Beirut but, by 1985, had retreated to the southern part of the Litani River. At this point, Israel increased their fighting efforts in the ancient city of Tyre and the surrounding region. Israel used an "Iron Fist' policy, which involved brutal raids in towns and villages.

The battles began on June 6, 1982, when the Israeli government decided to launch a military operation against the Palestine Liberation Organization after an assassination attempt on its ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shlomo Argov, at the hands of the Abu Nidal Organization. Israel occupied southern Lebanon after attacking the PLO, the Syrian forces, and the Lebanese Islamic armed militias.

This war in its recognized form ended in 1985, but its effects and remnants did not end until May of the year 2000, when the Israeli army and its agents effectively withdrew from southern Lebanon. It is worth noting that Israel has involved twice the number of forces in this war that it confronted Egypt and Syria in the October 1973 war.

Ariel Sharon was an Israeli general and politician who served as the 11th Prime Minister of Israel from 2001 to 2006. He was born in 1928 in what was then called Mandatory Palestine.

Sharon played a significant role in the 1948 war as a platoon commander and was instrumental in establishing Unit 101. This unit was responsible for carrying out retaliatory attacks across state borders to counter the Fedayeen, which included attacking villages. In 1953, the Qibya massacre occurred, resulting in several civilian deaths. Sharon was involved in all of Israel's major conflicts, including the 1967 and 1973 wars.

As Defense Minister, he directed the 1982 invasion of Lebanon. He was later found to bear "personal responsibility" for the Sabra and Shatila massacre in an official inquiry conducted by the Israeli government. As a consequence of this, he was removed from his post as Defense Minister.
However, he became the head of Likud in 1999 and was later elected as the Prime Minister in 2001.

During an interview on the show 'Israeli Diary with Stanley Rosenblatt' in 1982, Defense Minister Sharon stated that he believed Jordan was already a Palestinian state and that any legislation that could potentially lead to the creation of a 'second' Palestinian state would never be acceptable to Israel. He goes on to discuss how Prime Minister Menachem Begin ensured Israel would maintain security control in the Reagan Plan.

During the First Intifada, Yitzhak Rabin was the Defence Minister at the time and gave the order that stone-throwers and protestors could be beaten rather than using live ammunition. In 1990, Col. Yehuda Meir testified that Rabin had given orders to break the bones of Palestinian inciters as punishment and as a deterrent. Rabin would publicly deny such an order was given; however, Yitzhak Shamir, the Premier at the time, openly stated, "Our task now is to... put the fear of death into the Arabs of the territories."
