Laila Khaled...a plane hijacker who terrorized the Israeli occupation

Mrs. Lily is a Palestinian fighter and revolutionary icon. She was born in 1944 in the city of Haifa, and immigrated to the Lebanese city of Tire at the beginning of the Nakba in 1948. She lived in refugee camps and joined the resistance early.

It carried out two plane hijackings, the first in 1969, which ended successfully and led to a prisoner exchange.

Then she underwent surgery to change her facial features so that airport security would not recognize her

She carried out her second operation in 1970 and ended in failure, leading to the killing of her partner in the operation and her arrest for nearly a month before she was released in a prisoner exchange deal.

In 1970, before carrying out the hijacking of the plane, her direct commander in the training camps, a young Iraqi named Bassem, proposed to her. Their engagement was announced in February 1970 without consulting their families. Laila continued her struggle and work in the Popular Front and in several places, in redemption for her cause. She moved between several countries, and did not know stability until after her marriage and her move to Syria and then to the Jordanian capital, Amman, in 1992, where she was content with political work with the Front there.
