A leadership source in the Palestinian resistance to Al-Mayadeen:
—
A Hamas delegation will head to Cairo soon to resume negotiations.
Washington exerted pressure on the Egyptian and Qatari mediators and on the occupation to reach a ceasefire agreement.
Negotiations will resume in Cairo in light of the continuing gaps between Hamas and
"israel."

Journalist Hossam Shabat
Aside from journalism, almost every day we cook meals to feed the displaced in schools in North Gaza. With our very limited supplies, we cook and distribute meals to hundreds every day. We appreciate all the aid workers who were killed while trying to help us in Gaza, but our lives matter as much as theirs do. Our lives should be respected and appreciated just as much as theirs are. Palestinian lives deserve to be mourned just as much as any other life.
As young men, we found ourselves having to learn how to cook and bake to help our people. Every day, we do our work with honor. But why did the world not care about the famine or aid workers until it happened to non-Palestinians? Why do our lives not matter as much?

But what was that like, specifically in the 1990s?
despite the restrictions and siege imposed by the Israeli army and the Palestinian Authority that the Al-Qassam Brigades were going through during that period due to the arrest of many Hamas leaders
However, that small group of resistors caused woe to the Israeli army, led by engineer Yahya Ayyash, the most wanted man in that period.
We all know that the engineer is an expert in making explosives, but Yahya Ayyash had another skill, the skill of disguise, and he was very good at this matter. He passed on his experience in this matter to the rest of the resistance fighters.
On one occasion, he disguised himself as a Jewish settler, got into his car, and greeted the Israeli soldiers with his hand, saying, “Shalom.” They returned the greeting with all respect and opened the way for him to enter Gaza. His picture was present on all the checkpoints. Also, on one occasion, he disguised himself as a Jewish rabbi and carried out the operation. Israeli newspapers put pictures of Jewish rabbis and write the title: Who among you is Ayyash?
Also, because of the fear that Ayyash caused to the Israeli government, the Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, said, “I fear that Ayyash will be with us in the Knesset.”
The losses of the operations he carried out were always very heavy for the Israelis. He survived 3 assassination attempts during his pursuit
His wife, Hiyam, was his biggest supporter in his career
On the day of his assassination, January 5, 1996, he had his second child. He wanted to call his father and tell him this happy news, but he did not know that his friend’s uncle had given him a phone bomb and it exploded in Yahya’s face in seconds.
100.00 people participated in farewell to Yahya Ayyash in Gaza, including his friend Muhammad Al-Deif and other fighters.
