💣 Over 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs are part of the package, fueling fears of further devastation in Gaza.

Last ICJ ruling – salient points:
• Even the ad hoc Israeli judge Barak has voted in favour of humanitarian aid being delivered by land
• Judge Sebutinde, who had been on Israel’s side in the previous ruling, voted in favour of those measures
• 8 judges voted separate opinions, urging the court to mandate a ceasefire for various reasons
• Legally speaking, demanding a ceasefire when one of the sides is a non-state actor is tricky.
• Nicaragua vs Germany (aiding and abetting genocide) will be heard on April 8-9.

To note, the ceasefire is a legal issue because Palestine does not have full status as a country, which explains why so many oppose its recognition (Israel could be sued directly by Palestine, without the need for another country’s help) or make it conditional to a ceasefire. In other words, they aim to obtain protection from prosecution for Israel.

Meanwhile, there are several legal ongoing domestic actions against various governments supporting Israel (namely, the US, Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands), mostly about stopping the arms trade with Israel. Additional domestic cases can be brought about by any resident of these countries. It is worth noting that there are a couple of ongoing immigration-related cases (Palestinian residents or citizens who couldn’t bring their families to safety from Gaza), mostly in Canada and the UK. Finally, there are employment cases in the US and Canada – in the UK an employment court has already established that anti-Zionism is a protected belief.
