Jewar Association: The detainee Jamal Saber died inside Wadi El-Natrun Prison (Rehabilitation 5) at the age of about 50, after more than 12 years of detention since March 2013, due to deliberate medical negligence that led to his death.

“Sheikh Jamal,” who served as the campaign manager for presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail in the “Hazem Must” campaign, had been transferred about a month ago to Wadi El-Natrun Prison despite needing medical care and transfer to a medical center.

According to the information, he reportedly called for help last evening without any response, before he was found dead inside his cell this morning.

During the years of his detention, Jamal Saber was moved between several prisons, including Scorpion Prison and Badr Prison before being transferred to Wadi El-Natrun.

He was scheduled to be released within days as his sentence was coming to an end, but his death occurred inside the prison, an incident that sparked anger among detainees.
