The UK is running a multimillion-pound aid project in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to develop “more capable” Palestinian security forces who can prevent the “potential overspill of violence into Israel”.

The project, which is managed jointly by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Foreign Office, aims to “deal with threats to Israel originating in the West Bank”.

The West Bank has yet to see a full-scale uprising. Part of this is due to Israeli and Palestinian Authority cooperation, as both sides are working closely to keep the situation under control.

Civil Defense crews and partners are working to control a massive fire in a plastic factory in Hebron

Civil defense crews from the governorates of Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Jericho, and partners from municipalities and the local community, are still dealing with a massive fire inside a plastic factory in the city of Hebron that caught fire during the evening hours of Tuesday, February 27, 2024.


The Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Al-Abd Ibrahim Khalil, followed the work of the crews from the fire site and supervised the firefighting operations in which more than 15 firefighting teams, a hydraulic ladder, and a number of water supply tanks and heavy equipment participated, in a continuous attempt to control this fire that has been going on for approximately four hours
