We documented testimonies of Palestinian female detainees from the Gaza Strip who were subjected to sexual violence, torture, and inhuman treatment through nudity, harassment, and threats of rape by soldiers of the Zionist occupation army.


Testimonies of female detainees who were recently released after spending various periods of detention included that they were subjected to harsh practices that amounted to torture, including brutal beatings.


The occupation soldiers threatened female detainees with rape if they did not comply with the officers’ orders, forced them to strip completely naked and undergo a strip search in front of male soldiers, directed obscene words at them, tied them up and blindfolded them for long periods, and detained them in open cages in extremely cold conditions.


The occupation forces deprived female detainees of food, medicine, necessary treatment, and feminine supplies, and constantly threatened to deprive them of seeing their children, in addition to stealing their money and property that they had in their possession upon arrest.


We estimate that a greater number of female detainees were subjected to these violations and preferred not to reveal or talk about them due to social norms, as a result of their exposure to trauma, or for fear of retaliation, persecution, or killing by the occupying army


All of these violations come in the context of dehumanizing all Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, especially children and women, thus justifying and normalizing all crimes committed against them.

We renew our call on the International Committee of the Red Cross to assume its responsibilities and verify the conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, especially women and girls, ascertain the conditions of their detention, and search for missing persons.
