A new study published in the UK’s Lancet medical journal estimates that Gaza’s death toll during the first nine months of the war was 40% higher than figures reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Yale University, and other institutions estimate that between October 2023 and June 2024, around 64,260 people were killed due to Israel’s air and ground assaults.
