in iran we don't have good morning. we have mornings you survive, mornings you get through with your phone screen dimmed low so the bad news doesn't hit too hard before your first cup of tea. good morning is a phrase we borrowed from other languages, other lives, because ours never quite earned the word. here, morning is just the hour you find out what happened while you were asleep, who was arrested, who didn't wake up, what price went up overnight.
