My dreams exist in a paradox.

The wind brought back your name on its long, wide wings.
At first, I thought it must have been a foot stepping on twigs.
I looked around, and, seeing no one, I felt every cell of my body freeze.
I hadn't thought of you in ages, why would you come with a gentle breeze?
We parted our ways under the first transparent, barely there snowflakes,
Which, too, melted as soon as they fell, how high were the stakes?
I refused to shake your hand but you never reached out to hold me.
We stood in between the ground and the sky — we were floating.
Uncertainty wrapped its long arms around us, squashing our souls.
But earlier, in times of crises, I knew I could find my way back home —
Your arms, the only warmth I had ever allowed to consume me whole.
Months later, my hands were shaking — a clear sign of withdrawal.
I still ponder about what exactly happened sometimes.
I just can't believe a force made you stop loving me overnight.
There's no magic, although we had both agreed that there was.
We were far too ahead of ourselves, so our paths started to merge...
There was no ending to my spirit and no beginning of yours.
So we tried to put a border — we built fences and doors.
Still, a fire at your place always burnt down my side.
That is, until I found someone else in whom I could confide.
Were you a scarescrow in your past life? Did he scare you away?
Or were you just happy you had finally found someone to blame
For the endless hours you kept me awake, pacing around the room,
Trying to find a way to make my love make sense to you?
But now it's over, and the wind has eventually quieted down.
Dead silence. Two talkative sparrows are the only source of the sound.
I'm on a bench — I've been sitting here since you stood up and left,
Except now I've found someone who isn't afraid of holding my hand.

A flame flickers in the palm of your hand.
It's not a grand fire but it keeps bears away.
I had longed for your warmth long 'fore we met.
Our eyes made contact — and I asked you to stay.
I want to take a photograph of our souls intertwined,
To capture this moment of pure unconditional love,
To catch a glimpse of a moment too sweet, too alive,
To watch two hearts click, like puzzle pieces, in a hug.
I keep rewriting the same tale, repeating the same lines —
Our love story has lasted for ages, written in the margins by stars.
Only what is destined can come to somebody's mind.
So thank you, dear, for lighting up a fire to find me in the dark.
The flame is big enough to keep both of us warm,
And that's all that we have ever needed to know.

and one thing you should know is that the thought and time put into the present you're making matter more than the money you spend on it (especially if you find a way to include your inside jokes)
