Each reading task includes three parts, namely




Pre-reading




While-reading




Post-reading




The pre-reading section aims at pre-teaching key vocabulary and activating students' background knowledge. To this aim, we can use a matching part to pre-teach the key vocabulary. Using eye-catching pictures is highly recommended. Please surf the... clipart to find a proper picture.


After pre-teaching 4-5 key words, try to activate students' background knowledge or world knowledge regarding the topic or theme of the text. As you can see, in the left box, some recognition items are given. In this way, some key expressions and structures are given to learners so that they can draw upon them to answer open-ended questions in the right box.






While-reading aims at providing learners with comprehensible input, so it should be at the level of most students. i+1

Besides, given the fact that texts should help learners use the grammar of lesson, we should try to use more cases of the lesson grammar. Input flooding





Post-reading aims at checking what students comprehend, push them to turn the input into output, and relating the text to their own lives (personalization). To these aims, we should develop open-ended questions in order to push the students to use the grammar of the lesson. Finally, we should raise a referential or genuine question so that the students relate the text to their own life and write or talk.
