On this day:
In 1757, Robert Clive (also known as Clive of India) successfully captured Calcutta. The settlement had been Seized by the Nawab of Bengal, who imprisoned 146 British soldiers in the infamous 'black hole'. Only 23 soldiers survived. Clive, after regaining Calcutta and defeating Nawab, established the military and political supremacy of the East India Company in Bengal and also the wealth that followed for the British crown. Together with Warren Hastings (the first Governor-General of India), he was one of the key figures in the creation of British India.

Humans very rarely abandon that which they truly love, they will instead go to great lengths to protect what's important.
People won't abandon even the things they're simply fond of.
Abandonment is cunningly reserved for the unknowing commodities which they'd been using all along.

It makes me laugh when protesters block roads, organise trucker blockades or advocate bringing cities to a standstill..
Have you not noticed the powers that be are trying to destroy the economy as well as society, you're not teaching them a lesson, you're helping the process.

This amazing hand-made model was bought by my father years ago & eventually left at my grandparents house. It depicts a residential/rural scene in #China which I've spent many an hour staring at throughout my life. I'll post more images below, time cannot damage true art.
This sexually distressing statue is by Aske Kreilgaard, it sits outside 'The Gender Museum' (KØN) in Aarhus, Denmark, (previously known as the Women’s Museum) - (Kvindemuseet). It's left where children can clearly see, it's disgusting nature.
At this stage, nothing shocks me.
