#RestorationHouse - City of #Rochester, #Kent
One of our spots @_GlennTeale and I filmed in #Rochester was this Grade I listed Elisabethan mansion where Charles II stayed one the eve of his restoration. It's details which dated back to the 1450's are truly mesmerising.

Daily maxims #1
The wise are presently pessimistic; the foolish remain pessimistically present.
Strength, power and victory; always sought, always emphasised but never gained
Life is a priceless game, for if it were a commodity it would never sell
Death need not be afraid; for he rewards our enduring of the misanthropic teacher, life.
They say the ignorant never learn, but can the learned know of ignorance?
The bed provides man with the first and most certain of all pleasures, why must the coffin be any different?

“Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. I was better after I had cried, than before--more sorry, more aware of my own ingratitude, more gentle.”
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
“What greater gift than the love of a cat.”
“Spring is the time of year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade.”
Charles Dickens, “the greatest English novelist”.

These birds may look like Seagulls but they’re actually a species called Kittiwakes. They’re primarily distinguished by their black feet. They’re also the only gull-species that are exclusively cliff-nesting.
They seem to have a habit of choosing iconic places to nest, too. Here I filmed them nesting on the side of Dunstanburgh Castle.
Also, if you’ve ever walked under the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle and noticed the hundreds of gulls nesting, as well as the mess they’ve made on the road below, they’re actually part of the furthest inland colony of Kittiwakes in the world.
