Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an internal memo criticizing OpenAIβs defense contract and the broader approach to AI safety inside the industry.
In the memo, Amodei calls the Pentagon partnership βsafety theaterβ and argues that monitoring systems offered to AI companies are limited in practice. He claims jailbreaks still bypass safeguards and says monitoring works only in a small share of cases.
The memo also describes discussions with Palantir during negotiations. According to Amodei, Palantir proposed tools to detect violations inside AI systems, which he framed as monitoring rather than preventing misuse.
Amodei said Anthropic refused contract terms that included βanalysis of bulk acquired data.β The Pentagon reportedly offered to accept Anthropicβs conditions if that phrase was removed, but the company declined.

Reuters reports that OpenAI has started developing its own code hosting service similar to GitHub. The project is still in an early stage.
Engineers inside the company reportedly faced frequent issues and limitations while using GitHub, which pushed the team to explore an internal alternative.
There are no details yet on AI features or product scope. The tool could remain internal, though OpenAI is also discussing a possible public release that would put it in direct competition with Microsoft.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said recent investments in OpenAI and Anthropic will likely be the companyβs last in both startups. He pointed to potential IPOs as the main reason for stepping back.
Analysts suggest other factors are also in play. Some note that funding flows between Nvidia and OpenAI often cycle back through large purchases of Nvidia hardware, raising questions about the independence of that growth.
Regulatory scrutiny is another concern. Instead of increasing exposure to a few companies, Nvidia appears to be shifting toward expanding its broader AI ecosystem.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei issued a statement apologizing for a leaked internal memo that sharply criticized the Trump administration and OpenAIβs defense partnership. He said the message was written under stress during a difficult day.
The memo had accused Trump of authoritarian behavior and claimed political pressure was tied to donations and government contracts. It also criticized OpenAIβs Pentagon agreement, arguing that the safety framework around it was largely symbolic.
The leak triggered strong reactions. Pentagon officials pushed back and questioned Anthropicβs influence over AI behavior through its Constitutional AI approach.
The dispute highlights growing tension between AI companies, government contracts, and internal pressure from employees over military and surveillance work.

People gathered near Anthropicβs office and wrote messages in chalk thanking CEO Dario Amodei for refusing censorship and surveillance through Claude.
At the same time Amodei filed a lawsuit against the Pentagon and the Trump administration after Anthropic was banned from government contracts.
The company may regain access to standard federal work, while the defense ban is expected to remain.

The facility will need about 2.2 gigawatts of electricity to run AI processors.
That level of demand is roughly equal to the output of 2β3 nuclear reactors.
The project shows how large AI compute clusters now require energy on the scale of national infrastructure.
One AI data center can consume power like a small country grid node.

Anthropic published a study on how AI affects the labor market. The chart shows two zones. Blue marks tasks AI can already perform. Red marks tasks where workers actually use AI today.
Real usage remains much smaller than the technical capability. Each month the red zone slowly expands.

Anthropic filed a lawsuit against 17 US federal agencies and the Executive Office of the President after refusing to remove two restrictions from Claude: bans on lethal autonomous weapons and mass surveillance of Americans.
According to the 48-page filing, the Department of Defense threatened to either force access to Claude under the Defense Production Act or classify Anthropic as a supply chain risk and cut it from government systems.
Anthropic argues the government cannot treat the company as critical for national security while also labeling it a threat.
The case challenges the legal basis for the action under 10 U.S.C. Β§ 3252.

Meta said it acquired Moltbook, a social network built for AI agents. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal brings co-founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr into Meta Superintelligence Labs, led by Alexandr Wang. They are expected to join on March 16.
Moltbook launched in late January as a Reddit-like site where AI bots exchange code and discuss their human owners. The project was largely built with AI tools, with Schlicht saying he wrote no code himself.
The platform quickly became part of the broader debate around autonomous AI agents.
Its growth also exposed risks after a security flaw briefly exposed private messages, 6,000 email addresses, and more than 1M credentials.

Former Meta chief AI scientist Yann LeCun raised $1.03B for his new startup AMI Labs at a $3.5B pre-money valuation. The Paris-based company has about 12 employees. The round was co-led by Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, and HV Capital.
AMI Labs is building AI systems based on βworld modelsβ. The approach uses JEPA, a framework LeCun proposed in 2022. The goal is AI that learns from real-world structure rather than predicting the next word or pixel.
The company plans to publish research and open-source parts of its code while working toward commercial products. Early target customers include manufacturers, aerospace firms, biomedical groups, and automakers.
The seed round ranks among the largest early-stage financings in AI.
