We have looked into the casting issue and it will likely never be fixed as the microg team have no plans to reverse engineer the V2 casting API as it's very locked down for security reasons.

Please use https://vancedapp.com/tv instead, it supports casting with vanced and also blocks ads and adds sponsorblock to the TV app. If you cast to the stock YouTube app you will have ads and sponsors cannot be automatically skipped, the application should be installed to the TV and used as a replacement for the YouTube TV app.

For anyone on an old Chromecast that doesn't support android apps, please use the stock YouTube app, you will get ads no matter what you do anyways.

To update YouTube Vanced/YouTube Music Vanced, simply use Vanced manager latest available version. If Vanced Manager says "Unavailable", it means the server is overloaded. Try again later.

Below we will be covering all the known issues which are present with the latest version of YouTube Vanced and YT Music Vanced.

Since there's a lot of repetition of such issues, we request you all to please read them and refrain from making duplicate issues.

Issues currently present in YouTube Vanced:

A) Swipe down gesture for refreshing home feed breaks randomly.
- It's an issue with litho that only Google can fix. There's nothing we can do to fix it. If you want to know more about what is litho, check out here.
- Possible workarounds to fix it temporarily:

1. If comments are disabled, enable them back again.

2. Tap on any suggestions/filters on top of the home tab and pull down to refresh will start to work

3. Try force stopping app and try again.

4. Disable General ad removal

5. Downgrade back to v15.40.


B) Casting to Chromecast is broken on any vanced variant that uses microG.
- (Typically either non-root with vanced microG or root version with microG based ROM)
- It is a known issue with upstream microG. Tap here to learn more


C) Swipe controls triggers when swiping either upwards or downwards while scrolling through video description or live chat when in landscape mode.
- The only possible workaround is to disable swipe controls


D) New action bar layouts issue through server-side changes
- With the ReturnYouTubeDislike(RYD) integration, the RYD might not work if you are one of those users who got the new action bar UI as part of Google's A/B testing. Currently, about 15-20% of users are affected. The next release will also address this issue.
-> If you have the old layout of the action bar and still can't make RYD work, a simple force stopping might fix it.

- Along with RYD, the new vanced action bar buttons will break as well


E) Toggle to hide info cards on the video player is broken
- Possible workaround to disable info cards is by disabling info cards through your Google account settings.
-> This setting disables info cards on every YouTube client where you use the same account)


F) Manual codec override is broken and very experimental.


Issues related to YouTube Music Vanced:

A) If the enforce repeat function is on, the music won't play in maximized player.
-> Possible fix is to roll back to a previous release.

B) The location-based recommendations toggle is broken.
-> No possible fix

SOME OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. YouTube has dropped support for Android 5 (Lollipop) with v17.xx.xx. Hence, the minimum supported version is now Android 6 and above.

2. YouTube is forcing max resolution for downloading video to 360p?
- It is a server-side change by Google. YouTube Vanced doesn't include any video downloader by itself and we don't intend to bring one either. Please do NOT report any video download issue or ask feature for it.
‼️ Vanced does not offer any YouTube premium service.

3. Can't able to open links from the description of YouTube videos?
- There are 2 possible solutions:

-> Disable the official YouTube app from your device settings
-> Set YouTube Vanced as a default app for opening links

4. If you are getting notification spam from YouTube Vanced after updating to vanced microG release v0.2.21+, read this:
- Downgrade back to an older microG build using the APKs found here. You have to uninstall the current version before installing an older version.

5. Can't find Vanced microG in the battery optimization apps list?
- Head to Vanced manager and tap on the launch icon to open the Vanced microG menu and toggle off "Hide icon from launcher".

6. Getting verification failure error when trying to install YouTube vanced?
Please get the official vanced manager from our official vanced website as you are using an unofficial version.

Hi everyone,

We are only making this post to let everyone know that there are quite a few modders on telegram that have been modifying vanced and distributing vanced in their own name.

Unfortunately, such unofficial mods have removed every instance of vanced name from our app about section and removed some of the contributors from contributors page, combining splits to form single APK. They had also included video downloader which again puts vanced at risk.
Also, an important note, you might be putting your device at risk by the potential malware risk by downloading such mods.

We have reached out to them by making a formal request but the only action they took is to ban us from their group and claiming ad-blocking is a policy violation concluding vanced is an illegal mod which is not true at all. Ad-blocking had existed long before Google introduced YouTube red subscription. You might be aware of xposed modules and similar stuff based on it.

We request you all to please stay away from those mods and stay safe. Using such a stolen mod only means you are disrespecting the work done by the vanced team.

We also request you all to only follow official vanced channels for getting latest updates and news about Vanced. Vanced only comes in split APKs format as Google distributes officially. You can find links and other important resources in the pinned message of this channel.
