Round Table Conferences (RTC):

First RTC
It took place from November 1930 to January 1931.
It was agreed that India was to develop into a federation.
There were to be safeguards related to defence and finance, while other departments were to be transferred.

Second RTC
It took place from September, 1931 to December 1931. Gandhi was the sole representative of the Indian National Congress in this conference.

The session ended with MacDonald’s announcement of:
two Muslim-majority provinces—North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Sindh.
the setting up of an Indian Consultative Committee.
setting up of three expert committees—finance, franchise and states
the prospect of a unilateral British Communal Award if Indians failed to agree
In the Second RTC, separate electorates were being demanded by the Muslims, depressed classes, Christians and Anglo-Indians. All these came together in a ‘Minorities’ Pact’.

Third RTC
It took place in November, 1932.
It was not attended by the Indian National Congress and Gandhi.
It was ignored by most other Indian leaders. The recommendations were published in a White Paper in March 1933 and debated in the British Parliament afterwards.

Correct Answer: (b)

The European Parliament and European Union (EU) Member States announced in April 2022, that they had reached a political agreement on the Digital Services Act (DSA), landmark legislation to force big Internet companies to act against disinformation and illegal and harmful content, and to “provide better protection for Internet users and their fundamental rights”.

The DSA includes new rules that will require Big Tech platforms – including Facebook and Instagram (owned by Meta), and YouTube (owned by Google) – to assess and manage systemic risks posed by their services, such as advocacy of hatred and the spread of disinformation.

For the first time, Big Tech companies will also need to submit to independent yearly audits, and to give regulators and third-party researchers, including civil society, access to platform data and insights into their algorithmic ‘black boxes’ to ensure greater scrutiny and accountability.
