Oleg Sheshukov is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the UrFU Institute of Metallurgy and Head of the Department of Metallurgy of Iron and Alloys. Under his leadership, new iron-based alloy compositions and production technologies were developed and implemented at Russian enterprises. He is the author of more than 400 scientific publications, including 6 monographs and 26 patents of the Russian Federation. For many years, he has been actively involved in the development of universities, institutes and metallurgical education in the Urals, in the training of young specialists and scientific and pedagogical staff.

In 2025, Oleg Sheshukov received the state award of Mongolia – the badge "Honorary Worker of Education".
