Types of Traps in Western Water Closets 🚽

In order to form a seal and prevent (trap) unwanted gasses from escaping from the sewerage, the trap retains some water. 💨💧

For an S-Trap toilet, the soil drainage pipe exits the toilet through the floor.

While in a P-Trap, the soil drainage pipe exits through the wall.

The easiest way to remember this is by remembering the direction of drainage water flow, as shown in the attached photo of this post.
