Do you know that sprinkler systems can be failed because of corrosion?

Corrosion can cause serious damage to your sprinkler system over time. 🔥

It is the gradual destruction of a metal due to chemical reactions with its environment, such as water, oxygen, and salts.

When corrosion occurs in your sprinkler system, it can cause the pipes to become clogged, leak, or break, leading to costly repairs.

In order to prevent corrosion from causing damage, regular inspections and maintenance are necessary.

In this file, you will learn the following:

Discuss the problems corrosion causes in fire sprinkler systems.

Identify the causes of corrosion.

Take an in-depth look at the current state of corrosion technology.

Evaluate the economic impact that corrosion has on fire sprinkler systems.

Relay in BMS Systems - Read it For Free

A relay plays an important role in controlling and monitoring the various components of a building management system.

It acts as a switch that transmits signals from one component to another.

With a relay, building maintenance staff can easily monitor and control HVAC, lighting, and security systems from a central location.

However, the relay in building management systems is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Different relays may be required depending on the type of building and its unique needs.

In this blog post, we will delve deeper into the role of relays in building management systems.

What is the difference between Model & Family in Revit?

Model is the overall project which consists of walls, slabs, columns, etc., for the architectural and structural projects.

Also model consists of ducts, pipes, cable trays, mechanical equipment, etc., for their MEP project.

While Family is a component of the overall project, for example, the table is a family, and the fan coil unit is a family.

FCU Hookup and its Valves

FCU hookup, or fan coil unit hookup, is essential to HVAC systems in commercial and residential buildings.

It involves the connection of a fan coil unit to the building's water supply, which allows for the circulation of hot or cold water to maintain a comfortable ambient temperature.

Valves play a crucial role in the FCU hookup process, controlling the flow and temperature of the water as it circulates through the unit.

So, we released a new blog post that will delve into the different types of valves used in FCU hookups and how it affects the performance of the HVAC system.

Motor Control Center Handbook - Free Download

Motor control centers, or MCCs for short, are essential in the automation and control of industrial processes.

Providing the means to both distribute and control electrical power to motors, the MCC serves as a centralized hub for managing complex electrical systems.

As such, the MCC plays a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of industrial operations, and any malfunction or failure can result in significant downtime and revenue loss.

With the high stakes involved in managing industrial processes, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of the MCC and its workings.

So you can download this awesome handbook created by Siemens for free from this link:

Importance of Connecting the BMS To the HVAC System

Connecting your HVAC system to the BMS gives you better control of energy usage in your building.

This is because the BMS ( Building Management System ) can monitor and measure the energy usage of the HVAC system, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments to reduce energy consumption.

This is beneficial to both the environment and your wallet as it will help you save money on energy costs.

Connecting your HVAC system to the BMS also helps improve the safety and comfort of your building.

The BMS can monitor the temperatures in your building, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments to ensure the temperatures remain comfortable and safe for occupants.

The automatic control by BMS can regulate HVAC system output in response to varying indoor and outdoor conditions. This maintains general comfort conditions in office areas and provides narrow temperature and humidity limits where required in production areas for product quality.

🎯 Overview of the BMS Field Devices in Projects

✔️ Organizations increasingly turn to Building Management Systems (BMS) to streamline their facility management processes as building technology advances.

✔️ A BMS is a centralized computer system that monitors and controls all the mechanical and electrical systems in a building.

✔️ Field devices are responsible for measuring temperature, humidity, lighting levels, and other critical parameters that affect the building's performance.

✔️ They also act as the BMS's eyes and ears, gathering data about the building's performance and sending it back to the centralized control system.

🔥 This blog post will provide an overview of some of the different types of field devices commonly used in a BMS.

Monitor Modules (MM) in Fire Alarm Systems

Monitor modules (MM) are essential components of an addressable fire alarm system.

We consider it as an input module.

They allow non-addressable devices, like sprinkler flow switches, Tamper Switches, or loops of standard heat detectors, to be monitored and connected with the main fire alarm control panel (F A C P)

The attached photo shows the common applications of the monitor modules.

Duct Smoke Detector

The Duct smoke detector detects smoke and combustion products in air moving through HVAC ducts.

This device prevents air handling systems' smoke recirculation in areas.

It can be connected to the fire alarm system or the BMS system.

What is the contactor?

A contactor is an electromechanical switch whose function is to make or break the connection between the power supply and the load.

It consists of Coil, Spring, Steel Core, Static Contacts, and Dynamic Contacts.

It is electrically controlled by applying a voltage to its coil and is usually powered much lower than the switched circuit.

It is most commonly used with electric motors and lighting applications.

Circuit Breaker Types in Low Voltage Systems

We have three different types of circuit breakers as follows:

1- Miniature Circuit Breaker or MCB:
Usually, we find it in the final electrical distribution boards; it can be one pole, two poles, three poles, or four poles.

Also, we can use it as a protection circuit breaker in the control panels.

2- Molded Case Circuit Breakers or MCB:
Usually, it will be as the main breaker in the sub-main panels or the breaker of the branch circuits in the main panels.
It has a higher short circuit capacity than MCB.

3- Air Circuit Breaker or ACB:
Usually, it will be the main breaker in the main panels or MDB.
It has higher short-circuit capacity than MCB & MCCB

Shunt Trip Coil

A shunt trip coil is an optional accessory in a circuit breaker that mechanically trips the breaker when power is applied to the shunt trip terminals.

The power for the shunt trip does not come from within the breaker, so it must be supplied from an external source.

Its most common application is when we need to control switching off the power of a panel by a feedback signal from the BMS system.

Grease Interceptor 👌

A grease interceptor is an in-ground or suspended tank that is designated to limit the amount of FOG (fat oil and grease) and solids entering the sanitary sewer system.

Interceptors hold FOG until they can be removed and disposed of by recycling or rendering companies(Manual cleaning).

Interceptors are more effective when the grease traps are inspected weekly and periodically.
