What is the Rule Curve?
๐ดA rule curve or rule level specifies the storage or empty space to be maintained in a reservoir during different times of the year.
๐ดHere the implicit assumption is that a reservoir can best satisfy its purposes if the storage levels specified by the rule curve are maintained in the reservoir at different times.
๐ดIt decides the fluctuating storage levels in a reservoir.
๐ดThe gate opening schedule of a dam is based on the rule curve.
๐ดIt is part of the โcore safetyโ mechanism in a dam.
๐The Supreme Court has warned the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary against the failure to give information on the rule curve for Mullaperiyar dam.

โ Project RE-HAB
๐ดProject RE-HAB stands for Reducing Elephant-Human Attacks using Bees. It is an initiative of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
๐ดIt intends to create โbee fencesโ to thwart elephant attacks in human habitations using honeybees.
๐ดBee boxes have been placed on the ground as well as hung from the trees.
๐ดThe boxes are connected with a string so that when elephants attempt to pass through, a tug causes the bees to swarm the elephant herds and dissuade them from progressing further.
๐ดThis idea stems from the elephantsโ proven fear of the bees.

โ APEC vs East asia summit- click here
โ One big confusion when reading about IR organizations is :
๐ก1) Is India a member of that org or not?
๐ก2) What is the difference of purpose between multilateral agencies that are present in geographically close areas
๐ดASEAN- formed in 1967 by - East Asian economies- motivated by a common fear of communism- i.e. china.
๐ดAPEC- in 1970s -japan= phenomenal growth- possibility of monopoly in East Asia- creation of APEC- in 1970s india was a closed economy - so no interest in APEC- India didnt become a member , although it applied recently(still not a member)
๐ดEAS-2005-times changed-japan is now less powerful than China- Need to manage china through collective bargaining power-cant exclude china because of its might- so included India, Aus, NZ etc to balance-
