🌟 Geometry of Shiraz by Kristina Makeeva – Persian architecture turned into pure geometric poetry! 📸
This captivating series captures the magic of symmetry in Shiraz’s iconic monuments: the glowing stained glass of Nasir al-Mulk (Pink Mosque), the shimmering mirror mosaics of Shah Cheragh, and the rhythmic stone columns of Vakil Mosque.
Through intricate honeycomb ceilings and repeating tile patterns, it reveals how light, shape, and mathematics create breathtaking harmony.

The Great Temple of Yeha, built around 700 BC in northern Ethiopia, is the oldest standing structure in the country. Constructed with precisely cut ashlar blocks of sandstone and limestone, it relies on gravity and friction to maintain stability, requiring no mortar. Its walls feature a slight inward slope (a "batter") for added seismic resistance. Originally dedicated to a Sabaean moon deity, it was later converted into a Christian church, which helped preserve it. The temple exemplifies the advanced masonry and engineering knowledge of the pre-Aksumite Dʿmt kingdom, revealing deep connections with South Arabian civilizations.

🌟 Hefei Art Museum by Tongji Architectural Design. – 🏞️🎨
Anchoring Hefei’s ambition as a “famous city by the lake” and Yangtze River Delta innovation hub, this 36,000 m² cultural landmark sits in the Anhui Provincial Cultural Expo Park. Symmetrically aligned with the Provincial Museum and Paleontological Museum, it features four above-ground floors + two below.
Design inspiration? The very name “Hefei” — from the ancient Erya: “When two rivers flow together, it is called ‘Fei’.” The museum’s form rises as two overlapping, flowing shapes symbolizing the Dongfei and Nanfei Rivers converging then diverging — unity in diversity, both visually poetic and deeply meaningful.
Inside: a multifaceted art world dedicated to Anhui’s heritage, contemporary works, and calligraphy. Four distinct façades express “elegance, grace, and pleasure,” welcoming visitors into an immersive artistic atmosphere from the first step.
