[Al-Fawā’id, 1/175]
From al-Mas'ūdī رحمه الله (One of the Salaf), that ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālib رضي الله عنه said regarding the saying of Allāh تعالى:
“Those who humble themselves in their prayer.” • [al-Qur'ān 23:2]
“The humility in the heart and that is to SOFTEN your SHOULDER for the MUSLIM MAN (your Muslim brother praying next to you) and that you DO NOT LOOK AROUND (right or left) in your prayer.”
[Narrated by Ibn al-Mubārak in 'az-Zuhd 1148’ and aṭ-Ṭabarī in his 'Tafseer 2/18’ and al-Ḥākim who declared it authentic and al-Bayhaqī in 'Sunan al-Kubrā' and mentioned by as-Suyūṭī in 'ad-Durr al-Manthūr 2/84’]

I realized that people were reserving things (their duas, needs, wishes) for the day of Arafah to ask Allāh for them.
And some of them used to say:
“For fifty years I have been supplicating on the day of Arafah and the year does not go by except that I see the answer of my dua come to pass as the morning light (as clear as day).”

Look out for your needs on the Day of Arafah, and pray to Allāh with certainty of reponse and beseech Him persistently; for Allāh is Generous and loves to be asked, and whoever asks the Generous One is never turned away... O Allāh, do not let us return disappointed.

Allah says in surah al-Nisa':
And who is better in terms of religion than one who submits his face to Allah while being a good-doers and follows the religion of Ibrahim purely? And Allah took Ibrahim as a khalil. [125]
The word "khalil" is often translated as "close friend" or "close one". Commenting on this ayah, ibn Kathir wrote:
"And Allah took Ibrahim as a khalil" - this is an example of Allah encouraging us to follow Ibrahim for he is a role model whose example should be followed. That is because he reached the apex of closeness that a servant can get to Allah, for he reached the level of "khalil-ness" which is the highest station of love, and that is something that he only achieved by how obedient he was to his Lord.
That is just how Allah described him when He said:
"And Ibrahim who fulfilled" [al-Najm ayah 37]
Most of the salaf explained this to mean that Ibrahim enacted all of what he was commanded to do and actualized every level of worship, for he would not allow a noble task to distract him from a humble one, nor a large act to make him neglect a small one.
[Tafsir ibn Kathir 2/424]
