The Armed Forces of Ukraine significantly reduced the request for the mobilization of half a million people", - Syrskyi.
IMO this is the wrong decision, as the commander in chief notes things on the battleground have improved and almost all Russian advances have been halted, however we know Russians only breathe war and we must be prepared for the long run.
Right now there is approximately 700,000 Ukrainians serving in the armed forces, if we want to even think about getting occupied territories back, another 500,000+ will need to be mobilized, potentially more.
The conscription age in Ukraine is 27, this is too high and needs to be lowered to 22 at a minimum.
US aid will eventually come and we need to be ready, learn of the negatives of the 2023 counter offensive and look for improvement. Having new brigades trained and ready for this time will only be beneficial, it’s better to be prepared then negligent.
I guess we will have to wait and see…
