Outages Affecting UBports Services

We have just become aware of an outage involving many UBports services, including forums.ubports.com, ubports.com, ubuntu-touch.io, and others. We are investigating the issue and will have updates as soon as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for your patience while we resolve this.

All affected services have been restored and we're looking into steps to avoid outages like this in the future. Thank you for your patience.

As requested by you, the community, we have launched a new and official group for 'not quite on topic' discussions - conversations that 'flow over' from the main Supergroup.

Since it's official, this group will strictly follow the Ubuntu CoC. In addition to that, we will be more strict with regards to profanity or 'dirty talk'.

If you like general conversations related to UBports (ie. Arch, Unity 8, how to recover a hard drive, the latest cool themes, the best chat client, AMD versus Intel, google's latest privacy breach, etc) then this group is for you!

Telegram Hackathon Vienna 20-21/10/2018

A hackathon is planned for Sat 20th and Sun 21st of October at the Metalab in Vienna.
The purpose of the event will be to bring forward developement of the new Telegram Client https://gitlab.com/dpniel/tg-plus and start at 10 a.m. local time on Sat 20th. The afternoon of the 21st will be more relaxed with a sightseeing tour or something similar.

Dekko Lands in Open Store!

At long last and thanks to the hard work of the new "Dekkan Team", Ubuntu Touch has this great email client in the Open Store for 16.04 Xenial users.

uNav Map Issue Solved

Have you been unable to see maps on uNav in the last few days?
Don't worry, we a have solution for you!
Here's how to solve it:

1. Open uNav
2. Go to the application definitions (cogwheel on the top right corner)
3. On the Maps section, tap on the Online Style option
4. Select any option other than the first
5. It's done, now you can restart the app and you'll have maps again to safely navigate to your destination

New Official UBports UX and Design Steering Committee

Thanks to the ever-growing and maturing UBports community and the quick development of our favourite OS Ubuntu Touch, a need arose to have a clear UX and Design steering committee.

We are pleased to announce Joan (@CiberSheep) as the head of this new team.

Joan not only has an infectiously positive attitude, but also understands development and has contributed not only towards the base of native UT apps (check it: https://open-store.io/?sort=relevance&search=author%3AJoan%20CiberSheep), but also has put much care and input into the look and feel of logos for other devs such as Brian Douglass' "Clickable", the kid-safe UT browser "Jade Diamond", "Recipe Boss", "Dice Roller", and more.
