So, when Russia occupied Crimea - Crimea was cut off from Russia. This is a peninsula that was connected only to Ukraine by the mainland. And everything - electricity, water, gas, the island received from Ukraine. It is logical that Russia needed to connect it with Russia. For this, the occupation of Donbass began in order to create a corridor to Crimea, and until the occupation was successfully completed, Russia built the Crimean bridge, the destruction of which will greatly affect the logistics of Crimea. And if Ukraine frees the regions where Crimea connects with Ukraine, Crimea will be surrounded without a military siege.

However, what are Russia's goals? Why 100% peace talks will not stop the war. As you can see on the map, only one region separates Russia from Donbas to the occupied part of Moldova - Transnistria. And this region is Odesa. Currently, Russia does not have the strength to take Odesa, so Russia needs a pause in the war with the preservation of the occupied territories in order to gather adequate forces for the occupation of Odesa.

In addition to Ukraine, there are similar situations in other countries, and Russia will definitely want to connect with the occupied regions there. By the way, occupied Kaliningrad is surrounded by NATO countries, so there is a direct risk of a war between Russia and NATO. And in the case of the occupation of Ukraine, Russia will balance its forces and will be able to fight NATO successfully, and in alliance with China it may even win.

That is why Russia must be defeated now! No negotiations, no pauses, freezing of the war here will only play into the hands of Russia and there will be a renewal of the war in a more brutal form.
