the situation in the gulf has become a bit more certain, invest 97L may become Edouard if sustained winds reach 40mph but either way itβs looking like a landfall tomorrow evening/night near the Texas/Louisiana border. itβs a smaller system and itβs not expected to rapidly intensify, models have it in the 35-50mph range. heavy rain, storm surge and coastal flooding are possible even without an official tropical storm designation
whatβs left of Dolly is unorganized and its chances of spinning up again are diminishing, could be quite a rainmaker for Florida by the end of the work week. weβll know more when itβs back over open water π

Edouard has really gotten itβs act together overnight into this morning and is now just a few hours away from landfall near the TX/LA border as a stronger tropical storm/potential low end category 1 (50-55 mph now with a window to intensify before landfall)
every storm has a story or defining characteristics and this one fortunately ran out of time. another couple of days in the gulf and weβd be talking about a monster π

the Pacific has 2 major hurricanes and a future hurricane at the moment. the last of these, Marie, had some models of it slamming into Southern California..
hereβs Marieβs current timetable and projected tracks but the water temperatures (ocean color) tells the story. spinny bois need heat and as it heads north the ocean cools off dramatically, 8-10 degrees F makes all the difference
Cali is safe π

hurricane Lowell is now a cat 5, the majority of models have it turning north late enough to miss Hawaii to the west but thatβs far from a given π
