hole #1, Tea Olive. the 1st hole at Augusta National is an uphill 445 yard par 4 that plays 16-20 feet uphill (475-480 actual distance). the hole has a well placed bunker on the right side of the fairway where uncommitted drives typically collect. distance control on the second shot is pivotal, missing long is dead. par is an excellent score on Tea Olive and birdie is a bonus, a bogey or worse here will tempt players to press, usually a fatal mistake at Augusta ⛳️

hole #3, Flowering Peach. the 3rd hole at Augusta National is a classic short par 4, measuring just 350 yards. players are faced with a decision on the tee, laying up short of the 4 bunkers or hitting driver/3wood up around the green. the green complex is very severe with the Sunday pin position on the far left hand side. one way or another competitors feel like they need a birdie here ⛳️
hole #4, Flowering Crab Apple. until this point Augusta National has offered average length par 3,4 & 5 holes but the 4th steps up the difficulty quite a bit and gives players a preview of what lies ahead. a demanding 240 yard par 3 that historically plays as one of the most difficult on the course. birdies on #4 are very rare and a par here will still gain strokes on the field ⛳️
