The first step is to update your Google apps, so head over to Google Play.

Next, download and install this APK. Remember to enable and keep your location services on and add a city in the clock app. After installing the Weather APK, it might take a few minutes for the weather info to appear. If it doesn't show up immediately, don't worry; it's on Google's server-side.

Please note that this feature is part of the December Pixel Feature Drop and is available by default in the Pixel 8 series. We're not certain if it works on Android 13, but we've tested it on Android 14 stable.

Between February and March 2024, Google is set to release the first Development Preview of Android 15, codenamed 'VanillaIceCream.'

The Predictive Back Gestures are something that began to be implemented back in Android 13 and now on the A14 QPR betas. This includes additional clock options, new Pixel Launcher features integrated with Google widgets and services, and, of course, the power of artificial intelligence.

Currently, there isn't much information available regarding the specific plans for the new Android system. However, it's certain that Google has a detailed roadmap of features and innovations in store.

A Pixel Launcher module port with the new taskbar enabled by default

Time to try updating the Pixel Launcher module. The key difference from the stock one is that it allows you to use the new taskbar (tablet version is force enable taskbar on the launcher) on the launcher. And this is it, if you want this feature, give it a try. Check screenshots in this [link].

This launcher has been ported from the Pixel Fold (Felix) device and is compatible exclusively with Android 14. With time moving forward, are you still using Android 9? 👀

The duration of Android updates for Google Pixel devices is currently under debate, but it's essential to understand that extending software support for Pixels is not just a technical challenge; it's also a strategic business choice.

This question was addressed on X by Husson Pierre-Hugues (aka phhusson). Husson began to voice concerns about the Pixel 8 having "7 years of Android upgrades".

If Google upgraded Pixel 1 (2016/17) to Android 14 through Treble, all Treble devices would be able to upgrade painlessly to Android 14. That's the whole point of Treble, commonizing the maintenance work. Instead, Google prefers that long-term upgrades remain a Pixel-exclusive feature.

Now it's more apparent and practically everyone using ad-blocker extensions on YouTube is being blocked from watching on the platform. If you haven't experienced this yet, your turn might be coming soon.

And this doesn't just apply to those who use these extensions, as it has been noticed that some modified YouTube apps are going through something similar. YouTube can identify the mods users, videos can load for a certain duration and then get stuck in a buffering loop. It's happening to many users and somehow, YouTube seems to be in the middle of it, trying to cut short your enjoyment.

Now I'm getting a better understanding of the situation regarding "MIOS", after a quick investigation, I discovered that the name "MIOS" originated as a meme or discussion in a Chinese forum. Initially, many enthusiasts started speculating that Xiaomi might abandon MIUI in favor of MIOS due to this meme.

However, it seems that this idea has gained more attention recently, thanks to a user on Weibo (u/6048569942) — whom I'm not personally familiar with but is considered reliable — making the following statement: "MIUI 14 will be the last major update of MIUI". Interpreting this statement leads to the belief that Xiaomi is planning to conclude the update cycle of M14 and transition to MIUI 15 instead of continuing with new versions within M14, such as MIUI 14.0.1, 14.2 and so on, effectively closing the chapter on MIUI 14.

Supercell has just announced that Clash of Clans and Clash Royale will be launching on PC through Google Play Games (currently in Beta).

As always, Supercell's regional release strategy remains in effect, which can be a bit frustrating. These two games are available now as a soft launch in Canada, Chile and Singapore and will be rolling out to all Google Play Games users in these countries today.

A global password sharing crackdown is expected to be implemented across the streaming platform sometime in 2024.

Disney+ has unveiled new guidelines for subscribers, outlining the implications of the password crackdown and how they will be enforced moving forward. Starting from November 1st, Disney+ introduced password sharing regulations in Canada and this is expected to expand to the UK and potentially other regions worldwide in the near future.

"Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreements with additional terms and our sharing policies. And we will roll out tactics to drive monetisation sometime in 2024."
