👮 The Federal Police of Brazil confiscated the cell phones of former president Jair Bolsonaro, as part of the house arrest order issued by the minister.

➡️ The measure was taken in response to the violation of imposed restrictions, after detecting activity on social media through accounts managed by his sons.

➡️ The police also seized the cell phone of Michelle Bolsonaro, the wife of the former president, even though she is not currently under investigation.

🚫 Minister Alexandre de Moraes also prohibited Jair Bolsonaro from receiving visitors, except for his lawyers, without prior authorization from the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

Visitors who are authorized are “EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN” from using cell phones, taking photos, or recording videos.

Brazil's authoritarian and now-sanctioned judge, Alexandre de Moreas, today ordered former President Jair Bolsonaro imprisoned at home (even though he hasn't been convicted).

He also barred Bolsonaro from: being interviewed, speaking at rallies, and speaking with his own son:

Much of this is just Moraes purposely provoking the US Government after he was sanctioned by cracking down on basic due process and free speech rights even further.

But he also just frequently bans people from speaking, or imprisons them, if they speak critically of him.

I received with sadness, as a son—but not with surprise—the news of my father Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest. Since we laid out our plans to restore freedom in Brazil, we’ve always been certain of one thing: Alexandre de Moraes is an unhinged psychopath who would never hesitate to double down.

After being sanctioned as the human rights violator he is—on the very next day after a massive crowd took to the streets of Brazil against him, and on the same day when new Vaza-Toga leaks exposed the rot in his office—he reacted in the only way he knows: by doubling down with an authoritarian smokescreen.
