🇧🇷🤡🇺🇸 — On the eve of the start of the United States’ tariff hike, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said he’s going to double down against American President Donald Trump

🇧🇷 In a speech in Minas Gerais, Lula said that if Trump is “trucando” (a reference to a bluffing move in the Brazilian card game Truco), he’s going to call a “six.” The leftist invoked the traditional Brazilian game, where one player challenges another based on the strength of their hand.

💬 The president also stated that “no one is going to lay a hand on Brazil.” Citing the August 1st deadline for the tariff hike, Lula said Brazil wants to discuss the measure and has the best “negotiators in the world.” He claimed, however, that Trump does not want dialogue.

“We want to negotiate, we have the best negotiators in the world. If they want to sit at the table and negotiate, we’re ready. After all, my whole life was about negotiating—I’d go on strike and then negotiate. Trade relations are no different. If the United States wants to negotiate, little Lula is ready. But disrespect? Only from Dona Lindu \[Lula’s mother]—and even then, she didn’t disrespect me, because I was the baby and she spoiled me a lot.”

🇺🇸💥🇧🇷⚖️😎 Darren Beattie, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, comments once again on the ongoing political persecution in Brazil: “We are aware and are taking action”

Justice Moraes is the beating heart of the persecution and censorship complex against Jair Bolsonaro, which has in turn curtailed freedom of speech in America. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rubio, we are taking notice and we are taking action.

🇺🇸🇧🇷NEW STEEL CRISIS IN BRAZIL: U.S. importers are already suspending shipments of pig iron, a raw material for steel, from Brazil.

🇧🇷 The 50% tariff on Brazilian exports to the U.S., if confirmed starting August 1st, will have a major impact on the economy of the city of Sete Lagoas, in the state of Minas Gerais (MG).

💬 “There’s no way to redirect these sales to other markets in such a short time; we are the largest supplier to the American market. There are pig iron plants in the country that depend on the U.S. for 90% of their sales. We are in talks with U.S. clients, who rely on our product, in an attempt to reverse the tariff on pig iron,” says Fausto Varela Cançado, president of the Metal Industry Union (Sindifer).

❗️ The leader admits that some pig iron plants may shut down furnaces starting in August if the tariff is not postponed or suspended, and may grant collective vacation time. After Brazil, with a much smaller volume, come Ukraine and India. Russia, which was the second-largest supplier, has faced U.S. sanctions since 2022 due to the war with Ukraine.
