Vigilantism is not desirable, but it serves a good purpose. In US history, when the court system was too slow or inefficient or corrupt and officials refused to do anything or couldn’t do anything, vigilantes were the only ones to administer justice at all.

Happened in the South, the West, and early in Colonial New England for just a few examples. It makes perfect sense that it’s happening now.
