“Let us, therefore, learn at last, for God’s sake, that, placing all other things out of sight, our youths look first to this commandment, if they wish to serve God with truly good works, that they do what is pleasing to their fathers and mothers, or to those to whom they may be subject in their stead. For every child that knows and does this has, in the first place, this great consolation in his heart, that he can joyfully say and boast (in spite of and against all who are occupied with works of their own choice): ‘Behold, this work is well pleasing to my God in heaven, that I know for certain.’ Let them all come together with their many great, distressing, and difficult works and make their boast; we will see whether they can show one that is greater and nobler than obedience to father and mother, to whom God has appointed and commanded obedience next to His own majesty; so that if God’s Word and will are in force and being accomplished, nothing shall be esteemed higher than the will and word of parents; yet so that it, too, is subordinated to obedience toward God and is not opposed to the preceding commandments.”

This is probably the best advice to possibly give to any Zoomer, and certainly this advice certainly has much larger and longer lasting consequences than anything else. Your parents and figures of authority, no matter how bad they may compare to any gone before, do still need your works, and it is going to be through your works that things get better here and now. Christ and the grace offered thereby may be the reason you have salvation, but the responsibility to care for your parents and do what is right in their eyes and the eyes of God rests on you. If you find them lacking, set an example in good honor toward them

Be sure to join us tomorrow night as @RadicalLib and @TurnipMerchant will deep dive into the influence of Evangelicals on US politics. I will mainly be asking questions as few people in our spheres know more about this topic than these two.

Even though "unemployment" is in about the same place it was before COVID; there are less people working, being less productive, and making less money in real terms.

“For a prince and lord must remember in this case that he is God's minister and the servant of his wrath (Romans XIII), to whom the sword is committed for use upon such fellows, and that he sins as greatly against God, if he does not punish and protect and does not fulfil the duties of his office, as does one to whom the sword has not been committed when he commits a murder. If he can punish and does not - even though the punishment consist in the taking of life and the shedding of blood - then he is guilty of all the murder and all the evil which these fellows commit, because, by willful neglect of the divine command, he permits them to practice their wickedness, though he can prevent it, and is in duty bound to do so. Here, then, there is no time for sleeping; no place for patience or mercy. It is the time of the sword, not the day of grace.”

Since the 497 years that this was written, the divine authority has not change, and the moral penalty for failing to carry out what should be carried out remains. Every single elite today that should be prosecuting the abominations that we are all too familiar with, but doesn’t, is just as immoral and evil as the one carrying it out. Every elite that refuses to punish foreign rapists are themselves foreign rapists. Every elite that refuses to punish those invading your nations are themselves invaders of your nations. Remember this if ever you feel you have hope for any leader

I'll be live at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning CST to discuss history, culture, and religion with Panama Hat https://youtu.be/Tn_GAa6QQTI
We had a ton of good discussion here. I know Radical Liberation quite enjoyed the discussion on Christian Hymnody. There is much more in here, so if that doesn’t appeal to you, I still suggest giving it a watch. I think it went very well

I dug through 67 pages worth of events of the LCMS’s National Youth Gathering (supposedly one of the most conservative Protestant churches in the United States), and this is some of what I’ve found:

Even if you aren’t in the LCMS, this is either coming for you or already has. This is important to study, at the least to see how the regime pastors and regime laymen are defending it. Learn from this defeat here so that you might be able to save your own congregation

Stephen and I just finished here. If you have not heard or read about this, go listen. Listen and remember. It’s not for the faint of heart, and in all honesty, it’s satanic and gruesome. But we are called to remember
The Book of James is probably the most important book for this sphere to study at this point

For everyone freaking out about how softly accepting this is of leftism, do none of you remember Jordan B Peterson’s whole schtick of ‘I’m primarily against compelled speech’ and almost exclusively using that to argue his way through academia and courts? Every time push comes to shove, these guys always default back to their soft, acceptable counters that don’t actually threaten anything and help to solidify the new leftist status quo
