Turkiya Burslari - Difference between normal vs merit scholarship programs
🎓Requirements:
Normal:
70% or 3.5/5 GPA for Bachelors
75% or 4/5 GPA for Masters/PHD
90% or 4.5/5 GPA for Medicine, Dentistry & Pharmacy students
Merit:
4.5/5 GPA (regardless of major), 6.5 IELTS or equivalent, SAT score of 1400 or higher required.
🎲Advantage:
While normal stipend is 4500TL (~100$) in 2025, the Merit Scholarship is double. This comes in handy, as the lunch prices around Istanbul and other major cities comes up to 200TL in average. This, and including expenses like transport, personal items and etc., may add up to more than 7000TL per month, which is more than the normal scholarship amount.
🤔How to maintain these scholarships?
Minimum GPA for maintaining normal scholarship: 2/4 GPA
For Merit Scholarship: 3/4 GPA
Yes, just by maintaining a 3/4 GPA by the end of semesters, you can be sure to get that sweet, sweet cash each month. ⬇️This is exactly what happened during our visit to Qarao’zek district 🙌
✨Together with the Tumarlab team, we met local youth, introduced our programs, and shared info on grants and international opportunities. The interest and curiosity from participants were amazing to see.
After a coffee break, students who won Türkiye Scholarships shared their own journey, from applying to the interview stage, and answered questions from the audience.
We also ran a mini masterclass where scholarship holders showed what a real Türkiye Scholarships interview looks like, giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look.
Hope this meeting proved one thing: opportunities are out there. Sometimes all it takes is knowing where to look - and the courage to apply.
