"Fixing" is also a form of manipulation. It spells out underlying judgement. In order to "fix" someone... You have to first think there is something that needs to be fixed and more than that, you have to have a degree of egoism to think that You are the one to fix it.
This is the premise behind "Tend to the log in your own eye, not the stick in your neighbors".
The truth is....we can only control ourselves. Not our parents. Not our spouses. Not our siblings. Not our friends. Not our neighbors. And controlling ourselves, if we are being honest here, is one hell of an undertaking.
We all have varying degrees of dysfunction. Our own dysfunction, our own beliefs and thoughts and behaviors and results are our direct responsibility. No one else's.
That is job #1 in this life.
The more you dig into why you think you need to save or fix others, the more you will see that You are actually the one who needs some re-arranging.
By healing yourself, by growing yourself, by fixing yourself, you will naturally cause a ripple. You reflect that change to those around you. But it always, always starts with you and the degree to which you are willing to be real and honest with yourSelf.
