Upd: Facebook and Instagram in Sri Lanka also just got down

I’m okay here, hiding inside my homestay and don’t go to the street. Russian embassy doesn’t reply my mail about the most safe way to escape Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’n government ordered to close all shops and restaurants after 6pm. This is Hikkaduwa, one of the most developed tourist place on the south of Sri Lanka. Police is everywhere on the street.

South of Sri Lanka is a paradise place for digital nomads and remote freelancers. I love this place. For now it’s over for uncertain time. Tomorrow is my flight back to Vietnam. Hope to come back one day.

Just got the reply from the Russian Embassy. Looks like they totally don’t care about my transfer safety from my accommodation to the airport. They just copy-pasted the standard reply about the in-airport safety ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is similar to the IT security. The encrypted data transfer is not the same as the encrypted data storage!

Not only Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram, but also the railway traffic in Sri Lanka stopped due to the curfew until 6a.m.
