Valentine's Day, with it origins steeped in the Christian shirk of honouring the "martyr" St. Valentine of Rome, is a feast or tradition that has become commercialised to reflect wining, dining and gifting in the name of romance.
Muslim are not in need of imitating these traditions, whether interpreted traditionally or contemporarily.
Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4031
Grade: Ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) according to Imām al-Albanī
The Prophet (ﷺ) exemplified the best behaviour between man and wife.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best of you are the best to their families, and I am the best to my family. When your companion dies, then do not abuse him.”
Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3895
Grade: Ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) according to al-Tirmidhi
On a daily basis, the spouses should live with one another in kindness, speaking with good speech, interacting with humility, lowering the wing of mercy to one another. Islām teaches spouses how to speak, act and even approach one another intimately with the best of guidance from the Book and the Sunnah. Why would we ever look to the traditions of the unbelievers who speak with foul speech, act with scandalousness, and lack basic hygiene. Lovebirds tonight, dumped in the morning.
It is only the deception of Shayṭān that turns a Muslim towards admiring the traditions of the disbelievers. Allāh has granted you much more in Islām.

📝Advice to the Young Salafī: Verify Students of Knowledge
Question to Shaykh Anwar Wright: In the city of Vancouver, Canada, there are a number of graduates from the Islamic universities in Saudi Arabia. In some cases, they have set up classes in centres and masjids not known for salafiyyah. Some of the youth who are new to salafiyyah have gathered around them. However, they have some questions about this. When they ask these individuals what scholars they take from, they will mention some of the kibar (major scholars). When it comes to teaching they will teach from popular books of aqidah (i.e. Kitāb al-Tawḥīd, Ṣifah Ṣalāt al-Nabī etc.). However, in some cases, if they are asked about Salafis who preceded them (in the daʿwah), like when asked about Salafi Publications they give obscure answers such as, “we do not know anything bad of them" or when asked about TROID (which has been present in Canada for 27 years), they say: “I’m not aware of them”. What is your advice to the young Salafi who is trying to ascertain who to take knowledge from in the West?
