We love trees, they are our friends and watchers. Today I wear this self-made and designed piece as an ode to the trees. Very appropriate, because together with the local residents we saved a very thick old oak from felling.

Light and dark,
along borders and waters,
I will know,

and travel.

We all have a little magic in us....

Heathens, paganists, asatrupractinioners, thursatrupracticioners and witches, many of them like to go into nature. However also in (old) towns there is much to experience. This unatrrective alley has a dark energy. Especially at the place where i took the picture. THis dark energy can even be felt in the nearby street. Dirkje and me discovered that and we have been here twice. Town or country....you can feel energy everywhere.

The Edda poetry names a lot of places other than our world Midgard. Some places are discussed in detail and about others there are only few details known. But is this information correct? After all both the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda are composed very late in heathen/pagan history (the Poetic Edda is the oldest of the two works). Here we need to explore this ourselves by trancejourneying and by comparing our experiences. The Tribe of the Fox is doing this for years now and this resulted in a 5 part series about the heathen Underworlds. This series contains nearly 2 hours of material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyfjr5-pRfE

Somewhere in the woods, were we found old remains of a place where in the year 1741 a paper mill stood.

A wonderfull boattrip in the West Frisian place Medemblik. This is a place with a rich history. In 1289 the place was taken by Count Floris V. But in 1517 it was conquered back by the army of Johan van Selbach, led by the famous Frisian rebels Grote Pier (a folk hero and freedom fighter) and Wijerd Jelckama (a freedom fighter and pirat) both were big and strong.

Egghter is not one of the most wellknown giants of the Edda. His name is just as mysterious and means something like 'edge-servant'. Egghter lives in the Ironwood, the realm that is ruled by Angrboda. To be more precise he lives in the Gallow Wood, which seems to be a part of the Ironwood. What is Egghter doing there? He is the herder of Angrboda's wolves. Cheerful he sits on a burial mound and plays his harp when the day of Ragnarok has come.

Commission Type : Music Album Cover

Name:
Luces Lejanas (Bandcamp)
Medium: Oil-on-Digital
Time: 50+ hours
Theme: Cosmos
Genre: Dark Atmosphere Gothic

Description:
I was commissioned by SeΓ±or Vogel the Lead Producer and Artist of Luces Lejanes to conceive the cover of his second album.
-He desired a cover that would realize his cosmic vision, the journey of planets contrasted with the terrestrial beauty of mountains and meadows-

Towering among the stone peaks beneath the celestial forms stands a mammoth obelisk. A conduit of energy, piercing the celestial sphere! It is split not once, not twice, but thrice!
Its base of creation is not the craft of man, but of the calloused hands of nature, the roots of the obelisk delving deep to connect to the roots of the tree of life. With it the Earth may meet the stars a bridge penetrating the veil to all the cosmic realms.

-Drawing inspiration from the early 90's Metal Album Covers I employed grungy textures and rough paint strokes as an homage to this period of music history to realize Vogel's vision for Luces Lejanas-

Who is Luces Lejanas?
Luces Lejanas is the reborn project originally known as Caetran by Alex Vogel
-Based in Spain-
Luces Lejanas represents a maturation, blending traditional black metal with a modern and mature approach to which he has been driven to create. With this new project he chose to focus on what is pure and essential in life drawing from his own experiences.
The cover art represents the connection to Earth and to the cosmos, the eternal voyage of the soul throughout eternity and the universe. Vogel is proud to announce a full length album and an EP ready to be released.

In search for my direct ancestors I found the oldest limetree tree in the yard of their (former) farm. This tree is called "Linde van Warken". It is one of the thickest and possibly oldest lime trees in the Netherlands.

Research shows that there was already a limetree here in the 16th century. In the thirties a new root spur emerged, which has grown into a full-fledged new tree, which stands right next to the old one. The limetree is still very vital and annually bears a very dense crown of leaves. It is probably a specimen of the old 'Zwarte Linde' variety.

Typical Dutch places in Frisia. I really love the sky, the Waddensea, the old tradition of the swans on the rooftops and the small villages.
