Hlidskialf

Hliðskialf (altnordisch Hliðskjálf „Schelf des Mitgefühls“), auch Lidskialf oder Lidskjälf, ist in der nordischen Mythologie der Thron des Hauptgottes Odin beziehungsweise der Ort, an dem sich dieser befindet. Er steht im Götterpalast Valaskjalf in Asgard, der in manchen Darstellungen mit Odins großem Saal Walhall gleichgesetzt wird.
Von seinem Thron aus kann Odin alle neun Welten des germanischen Weltbildes überblicken, was als Fähigkeit, alles sehen und alles hören (erlauschen) zu können, gedeutet wird. Die Vorstellung einer Allwissenheit für die oberste Gottheit ist in der Mythologie nicht unüblich. Bemerkenswert ist aber, dass diese göttliche Fähigkeit strikt ortsgebunden gedacht ist. Da Odin auch Loki von seinem Thron aus nicht sucht, aber doch entdeckt, erscheint diese Gabe zudem auch auf andere Gottheiten anwendbar. Selten, etwa in der Grimnismál, wird auch berichtet, dass die Göttin Frigg neben Odin sitze.[1] Auch Freyr besteigt in der Skírnismál kurzfristig den Thron.

It is vital to introduce children to wild nature. Perfectly trimmed bushes and trees in some local park with a playground and swing sets is not the same as taking them out to the wild. When you take kids to the local outdoor playground, all they’re going to do is play on the playground. Take them out in nature so that they can observe their surroundings, and have direct experience with organic environment away from urbanization. Introduce your little ones to living nature, and they’ll surely become good friends, because the spirit of your child is as wild as nature

It was a productive weekend here at the Hilltop Homestead! We got the wood all set up for sale, I helped Maine Man chop down a few trees, and we began working on the garden - finally! This afternoon I took a nice long walk in the woods and then made burgers and fries for dinner as a thunderstorm raged outside!
