Mr. Tyson very much enjoys Hegelian dialectics, he says, I like to envision myself on the boxing ring in a relation of reciprocity.
This concept, he argues, can be conceived of as each boxer having its nature which is independent of its relationship to the other. Both boxers make movements—no matter if it's retaliatory or offensive, blow or parry—which are in part connected to the movements by the other. Both boxers fundamentally have distinct qualities to them. The course of the boxing-match is not therefore fully explained in terms of reciprocity, causal interactions do not make an account of why these two men fight each other. Ultimately, boxing-matches can be useful to explore the issue of conflict, as it incarnates the whole of boxing as an incarnation of all fundamental violence.
