❗️TWITTER FILES: PART 11❗️

The new Twitter files show how the fear surrounding Russian propaganda let the intelligence community in Twitter internal affairs.

▪️'PR crisis' following 2016 election allowed intelligence to delve into Twitter's internal affairs.

▪️Twitter formed a ‘Russia Task Force’ to proactively self-investigate

▪️Twitter routinely received reports with lists of accounts to suspend from the state, media and politicians.

▪️The accounts were accused mostly of 'Russian' and sometimes 'Latin propaganda'.

▪️At first Twitter was very reluctant to cooperate, but after scare headlines pushed by congressional/intel sources Twitter gradually caved to moderation asks, which lead to partnerships with federal law enforcement.

▪️Before the 2020 election Twitter staff were overwhelmed with the amount of accounts to check and suspend.

▪️Previous Twitter files show that Twitter was paid $3,415,323 by the state, essentially for being an overwhelmed subcontractor.

New York became the sixth state to legalize the practice of composting human remains

Governor Kathy Hochul signed the legislation over the weekend. It would add "natural organic reduction" alongside cremation and entombment as an acceptable burial method. The new law defines the practice as the "contained, accelerated conversion of human remains to soil" in a "structure, room, or other space" in which decomposition can occur.

"With climate change and sea-level rise as very real threats to our environment, this is an alternative method of final disposition that won’t contribute emissions into our atmosphere."

The states that have already legalized human composting are Washington, Colorado, California, Oregon, and Vermont.

Imagine being scared to death of climate change 😬

FDA has announced that retail pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens can now provide abortion pills

The abortion drug Mifepristone was previously only available through doctors, clinics, or some mail-order pharmacies. The new rule change from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) will allow any pharmacy abiding by its guidelines to fill prescription orders in stores and by mail.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, medication abortion accounted for 54% of U.S. abortions in 2020. That percentage is likely to increase as retail pharmacies provide abortion pills.

Artist Kay LeClaire accused of pretending to be 'Native American'

The co-founder of a queer Indigenous artists' collective in Wisconsin who has claimed to be Native American is being accused of being a white woman and has since stepped down from her community positions.

Kay LeClaire, who also went by the name Nibiiwakamigkwe, also identifies as 'two-spirit,' which is a term many Indigenous people use to describe a non-binary gender identity. LeClaire has allegedly been profiting from the identities of Indigenous peoples.

A hobbyist genealogist revealed LeClaire's true 'white' lineage and her now-deleted Facebook account.

"I am sorry. ... Currently, this means that I am not using the Ojibwe name given to me and am removing myself from all community spaces, positions, projects, and grants and will not seek new ones. Any culturally related items I hold are being redistributed back in community, either to the original makers and gift-givers when possible or elsewhere as determined by community members. Thank you." - LeClaire said in her apology.

Texas lawmaker introduces bill banning gender identity material through grade 8 in public schools

The bill, HB 1155, would prohibit school districts from providing instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity to students in kindergarten through eighth grade or to older children in a way that is not age-appropriate.

The legislation would also require school districts to keep parents informed about their child’s mental, emotional, or physical well-being, including what health services they are receiving at school.

Parents would also be given the opportunity to decline health-related services for their child.

If signed into law, the Texas bill would take effect this fall when the 2023-2024 school year begins.

‘Romeo And Juliet’ stars sue Paramount Pictures over a nude scene

The stars of the hit 1968 movie “Romeo and Juliet,” who were only 15 and 16 when the movie was filmed, are suing Paramount Pictures for more than $500 million, claiming they were filmed nude without their knowledge.

The lawsuit claims director Franco Zeffirelli, who died in 2019 at 96, had told the actors there would be no actual nudity in the film, that their bedroom scene would feature them wearing flesh-colored underwear. The lawsuit contends that as the filming wound to a close, Zeffirelli asked them to perform nude with body makeup, threatening that without doing so, "the Picture would fail."

Solomon Gresen, the actors’ attorney, comments:
"Nude images of minors are unlawful and shouldn’t be exhibited. These were very young naive children in the ’60s who had no understanding of what was about to hit them. All of a sudden they were famous at a level they never expected, and in addition they were violated in a way they didn’t know how to deal with."

The actors Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting are now 71 and 72.

DC Comics released an issue featuring a “pregnant” Joker who “births” a son

It appears that the Joker was “impregnated” by a nemesis who he became enamored with: the female magician Zatanna. She curses the Joker, proclaiming that no one else could have his baby as she knocks him into a mud puddle. While Zatanna intended for the spell to ensure he never had children, it inadvertently “impregnated” the Joker.

The son, a mud monster who Joker vomits into existence, transforms into a smaller carbon copy of the Joker.

This isn't the DC's first attempt to play the 'woke' card. In the recent “Superman: Son of Kal-El” Clark Kent’s son, Jonathan, was revealed to be bisexual. DC Comics then incorporated this new version of Superman into their “DC Pride” anthology, giving him a makeover with a rainbow Pride Flag cape.

🇬🇧British students protest against "greenwashing" because their university spent £24,000 on a statue of Greta Thunberg

Protestors gathered on the University of Winchester campus to accuse the "upper echelons" of buying "meaningless statues", instead of making concrete climate commitments.

The Hampshire university spent £23,760 on what it claims to be the first life-sized sculpture of the "inspirational" Swedish environmental activist.

Bosses told students that they hoped the bronze figure showed "commitment to combat the climate and ecological emergency".

How dare they!

🇮🇪Meta was hit with a $400 million fine by Ireland for privacy violations

The tech giant was slammed with two fines totaling about 390 million euros. The decision was handed down by Ireland's Data Protection Commission.

Facebook was found to have violated the European Union's privacy rules by essentially forcing users to agree to have their data shared with advertisers in order to customize ad packages to individual users.

The company "is not entitled to rely on the ‘contract' legal basis to deliver behavioral adverts on Facebook and Instagram," the Irish DPC said.

Facebook has vowed to appeal the decisions.
