🔗 TON Verifier from the Orbs team

Introducing another product from Orbs: TON Verifier, an application for verifying source code on the TON network. Checking the source code provides transparency, assesses the integrity and security of smart contracts, and builds trust in the service. For users, trust is one of the key factors when using a product.

There is a growing number of products offering financial services in the TON ecosystem. Some of them may have been created for fraudulent purposes. Therefore, working on a contract without its source code may prove dangerous. Basically, you’re trusting dApps with your assets. Keep in mind that a scammy smart contract can replace code or leave a bug that puts your funds at risk.

That’s where TON Verifier comes in handy, providing code verification and authentication. Such a solution is not new, as a similar service is being provided by Etherscan for Ethereum. However, we wouldn’t want to be dependent on another network. Meanwhile, Orbs came up with TON TEP-91, which defines how an original registry with multiple verifiers will work.

In order to use this, there is no need to trust the server part of Orbs-run. Any party can set up its own verifier, put it in the verifier registry and assign it to a server.

The development team hopes that TON Verifier will become a fundamental part of smart contracts on TON.

🙂A few words about hodlers and hamsters

Every crypto project has "hodlers" and "hamsters". It's a well-known fact: hodlers hoard coins, while hamsters want profits here and now. The former put faith in the project, and the latter are eager to make a couple of bucks "while everything still works".

If you thought this happens only on the financial side, you'd be surprised, as it also applies to the teams that develop products and services.

The hodler teams have a clear plan, strive towards a goal, and are guided by a strategy. Their services are high-quality, fine-tuned and designed for the long-run. Such teams are the project's custodians and its development mechanism. A golden goose, so to speak.

The same cannot be said about hamster teams. These teams have no clear plans, no thoughts about strategy, and their tactics are based on the moment. Instead of creating opportunities, they focus on current conditions. Their goal is to benefit themselves, not the project. The project may benefit, but not nearly as much as from the hodler teams. And when times get tough, they can easily run to another project.

This is a rough generalization and the description has been absurdly simplified, but it helps to make a point. Which, by the way, is not to judge or accuse anyone. Quite the opposite...

💬 TON NFTs to be traded on WonderPlace

The WonderPlace NFT trading platform has officially started supporting NFTs from the TON network and four more blockchains, namely Solana, Polygon, Ethereum, and Binance Smart Chain.

Although WonderPlace is just starting its journey and is still in beta testing, it has great ambitions. Aside from NFT trading, it wants to promote aspiring artists to earn income from their creativity.

Its team is assembling a whole ecosystem of products, such as an application for NFT mining in the cloud, a sports NFT game and much more. WonderPlace will also have its own LaunchPad.

📌 OpenMask was added to ton.org’s application catalog. It has recently conducted a poll to ask the community which one of its wallet features is most useful.

Apparently, now Telegram usernames can be bought on the Fragment auction, even those that haven't been put up for sale.

This feature was first mentioned on the JpegMillionaire channel. He has conducted a small test, the results of which can be viewed here or on the screenshot above.

Once the offer gets announced, the service commits to deliver it for 1-100 Ton, depending on the indicated price.

Is it convenient? Sure. If the user agrees, he will need to go to Fragment and put his username up for auction. Then, it's a matter of chance if you'll be the lucky bidder to get it. At least it's done voluntarily, without risking getting banned by the owner of the Telegram account.

👛 Cypher Capital, a venture investor, puts up $10 million in TON

Cryptocurrency investment company Cypher Capital from the UAE decided to invest $10 million in The Open Network (TON) and its blockchain infrastructure.

Bill Qian, Chairman of Cypher Capital and TON Foundation board member, said that this will contribute to TON's growth and expansion into the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Turkey and India.

He also stressed the importance of a rational approach to blockchains. He reminded about the risks involved and the caution necessary when dealing with the hype around the release of new tokens.

As per Tontech.io, the number of accounts on the TON network has steadily grown. In December, it has reached 1.6 million, an outstanding metric for the blockchain ecosystem.

👛 TON Core Update for December 2022

As the developers have recently announced, the blockchain has undergone many improvements, such as:

🔽Several bug fixes in TON Proxy, improved stability
✅Collator/validator checks now have their storage stat calculation optimized. New block generation and validation has become more secure
✅Validators can now update some previously hard-coded parameters through the ConfigParams setting
✅In addition, the maximum contract size can now be specified in the configuration with an updated TonLib, abseil-cpp, etc.
✅Configurations for Token Bridge have been added, among many other things. See details here.

🔥 Most importantly, TON Storage was updated with storage-daemon components (creation, loading of package files, storage-provider, storage-daemon-cli).

The updates are scheduled to go live on January 9!
